Weight loss tablets work in combination with diet and exercise to help those with a BMI of 30 or above to lose weight. Weight loss tablets attach to the enzymes in your digestive system that aid the process of breaking down fats from your food. They then work to block the intake of about one-third of the fat in the food you eat.
Lifestyle changes such as reducing calorie intake and increasing activity levels are generally what is recommended to help someone lose weight. In cases of obesity or high levels of excess weight, prescription medication can be prescribed by a doctor or GP.
Your doctor or prescriber will be able to recommend which weight loss treatment is right for you. Most commonly prescribed to assist weight loss is Orlistat, which helps the body in stopping one third of the fat it consumes from breaking down into the body.
