Lercanidipine tablets are used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and reduce the risk of heart disease, heart attack and stroke.
High blood pressure is often symptomless but a build-up of fluid is often noticeable by affected areas that look swollen or puffy.
This medication is only available on prescription obtained from your local GP or trusted online prescriber. Lercanidipine tablets, also sold under the brand name Zanidip, is a calcium channel blocker. Like other calcium blocking medications, it prevents calcium from going into the muscles in the heart and blood vessels.
Muscles need calcium to contract, so when you block the calcium, it makes the muscle cells relax, as a result, blood pressure is lowered and it is made easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.
We advise that our patients consult with either their doctor or prescriber before they buy or use Lercanidipine Tablets.
Around a third of adults in the UK have high blood pressure, although many will not realise it. High blood pressure is often symptomless, as previously mentioned, so it is important to have your blood pressure checked to ensure it is in good health.
High blood pressure is dangerous and should be treated appropriately, it can increase exposure to heart disease, stroke, kidney disease and vascular dementia.
You can find more information about high blood pressure on the NHS website.
