About the product

Felodipine Tablets are a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and sometimes angina (chest pain). They work by relaxing and widening the blood vessels, making it easier for the heart to pump blood and improving oxygen supply to the heart muscle. Lowering blood pressure helps reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications. Felodipine is usually taken once daily and provides long-lasting blood pressure control. It should be swallowed whole and taken consistently, as prescribed, to maintain its effectiveness in supporting heart and vascular health.

Overview

Felodipine Tablets belong to a group of medicines called calcium-channel blockers that act on the cardiovascular system (the heart and blood vessels). They work by widening the blood vessels. This creates less resistance to the blood flow, and results in lowering your high blood pressure, which in turn reduces the strain on your heart.

How it works

Felodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that specifically targets blood vessels. It prevents calcium from entering the muscle cells in arterial walls, causing them to relax and widen (vasodilation). This reduces resistance to blood flow, lowering blood pressure.

Unlike some other calcium channel blockers, felodipine has minimal effect on heart rate or cardiac output, making it suitable for patients with certain heart conditions. The medication is effective for treating hypertension and can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive medications.
