Ditropan Tablets are used to treat incontinence. They contain a drug called Oxybutynin that belongs to a group of medicines called anticholinergics and antispasmodics and they work by relaxing the muscles of the bladder and stops sudden muscle contractions (spasms). This helps control the release of urine.

Ditropan Tablets work by relaxing the muscles around your bladder. This means your bladder can hold more liquid and you do not need to urinate as often or as urgently. Ditropan belongs to the group of medicines called antispasmodics. It helps decrease muscle spasms of the bladder and the frequent urge to urinate caused by these spasms.
You should always take Ditropan Tablets as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. Usually, these tablets are for oral use and should be swallowed with water. The usual dose for adults is 5mg taken two or three times a day, however your specific dose may differ.
Ditropan Tablets can be taken by adults and children aged 5 years or over.

Like all medicines, Ditropan can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects include:
Constipation
Dry mouth
Feeling sick (nausea)
Headache
Dizziness
Feeling drowsy or sleepy (somnolence)
Blurred vision
Dry skin
Diarrhoea
Being sick (vomiting)
Confusion
Dry eyes
Difficulty passing urine
Flushing of the face (especially in children)
A forceful heartbeat that may be rapid or irregular
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking Ditropan. If you are pregnant or think you are pregnant, you should not take this medicine unless your doctor tells you to. If you are breast-feeding, you should not take this medicine as small amounts may pass into your milk.
It is not recommended you drink alcohol while taking these Ditropan tablets as you may become very drowsy.
