What are Oxybutynin Tablets?
Oxybutynin is used to treat symptoms of an overactive bladder and incontinence. These can include: a sudden and urgent need to pee, needing to pee more often than usual, wetting yourself if you cannot make it to the loo in time (also known as urinary incontinence).
How do Oxybutynin Tablets work?
Oxybutynin works by relaxing the muscles around your bladder. This means your bladder can hold more liquid and you do not need to pee as often or as urgently. Oxybutynin Hydrochloride belongs to the group of medicines called antispasmodics. It helps decrease muscle spasms of the bladder and the frequent urge to urinate caused by these spasms.
How many Oxybutynin Tablets should I take?
You should always take Oxybutynin Tablets as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. These tablets are for oral use and should be swallowed with water. The usual dose for adults is 5mg taken two or three times a day.
Is there any reason I shouldn’t take Oxybutynin Tablets?
You should not take Oxybutynin Tablets if any of the following apply to you:
ever had an allergic reaction to oxybutynin, any of its ingredients or any other medicine
myasthenia gravis, a rare long-term condition that causes muscle weakness

What are the side effects of Oxybutynin Tablets?

constipation

dry skin
diarrhoea
being sick (vomiting)

flushing of the face (especially in children)
a forceful heartbeat that may be rapid or irregular

Can I use Oxybutynin Tablets if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. If you are pregnant or think you are pregnant, you should not take this medicine unless your doctor tells you to. If you are breast-feeding, you should not take this medicine as small amounts may pass into your milk.
Can I drink alcohol whilst taking Oxybutynin Tablets?
It is not recommended you drink alcohol while taking these tablets as you may become very drowsy.
