What is Fexofenadine?

Fexofenadine tablets are an antihistamine which helps to reduce symptoms of common allergies which result in the symptoms of sneezing, itching, runny or blocked nose and itchy, red or watery eyes.  

How do you take Fexofenadine?

You should always take Fexofenadine tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking any tablets. 

Side effects of Fexofenadine?

Interactions of Fexofenadine with alcohol and food?

It is not recommended to combine alcohol and Fexofenadine. As fexofenadine is antihistamine it can have a potentially sedative effect, when combined with alcohol it can exacerbate side effects.  

Apple and orange juice can reduce the effectiveness of fexofenadine.  

Any interactions of Fexofenadine with other drugs?

It is recommended that Fexofenadine tablets not combined with any of these drugs: 

  • Dronedarone 
  • Iscorboxazid 
  • Phenelzine 
  • Tranylcypromine 
  • Velpatasvir 

Is there any reason why I would not be able to take Fexofenadine?

If you suffer from  

  • Kidney or liver problems 
  • Have ever had heart disease 
  • Are elderly  

Then you should see your GP before starting the course of treatment. 

Why should I take Fexofenadine?

As Fexofenadine is an antihistamine it significantly reduces the bodies reaction to substances it perceives as toxic. Fexofenadine is effective at reducing symptoms of allergies.   

What's the difference between Fexofenadine and Telfast?

 Fexofenadine is the active ingredient in the branded Telfast. Both medicines do the exact same thing except Fexofenadine is cheaper as is not marketed as a specific brand.
