Cystopurin 3g Granules are a urinary alkaliniser used to relieve the symptoms of mild cystitis, such as burning, stinging, and frequent urination.
They contain potassium citrate, which works by reducing the acidity of urine, helping to ease discomfort and create a less favourable environment for bacteria.
Supplied as flavoured granules, Cystopurin is dissolved in water and taken as a short course, usually over two days. While it helps relieve symptoms, it does not treat the underlying infection, so medical advice should be sought if symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by fever, back pain, or blood in the urine.
Cystopurin Granules provide relief from the painful symptoms of cystitis and urinary tract infections.
The alkalizing formula helps neutralize acidic urine, reducing the burning sensation and discomfort associated with bladder infections.

If you’re not sure whether you have cystitis, a pharmacist can advise you. If you’re a man or you’re pregnant, speak to a GP before taking it. Speak to a GP if your symptoms get worse or haven’t improved within 48 hours. Get help from a GP or NHS 111 if you have a high temperature, pain in your lower tummy or back, or blood in your pee.

Yes, you can take paracetamol with Cystopurin, as it isn’t listed as a medicine that interacts with it. The NHS says you can take paracetamol up to 4 times a day to reduce pain when you have a urinary tract infection, so follow the directions on the paracetamol pack.
If you take any other medicines, tell your prescriber or pharmacist before you start Cystopurin.
No, you shouldn’t take Cystopurin if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, unless your prescriber has advised you to. If you think you have cystitis or a urinary tract infection while you’re pregnant, ask for an urgent GP appointment or call NHS 111 rather than treating it yourself.
It depends on the antibiotic, so speak to your prescriber or pharmacist before taking Cystopurin with one. Cystopurin makes your urine less acidic, which can make the antibiotics nitrofurantoin and methenamine work less well.
Tell your prescriber or pharmacist about all the medicines you take.
