You should always use Proctosedyl Ointment (Cinchocaine with Hydrocortisone) exactly as your doctor has told you. The way you use and apply Proctosedyl Ointment (Cinchocaine with Hydrocortisone) will also depend on whether you are using ointment or suppositories.

If you are using suppositories:

Wash hands before and after inserting suppository.

Carefully remove one wrapped suppository from the strip and peel away the foil, holding it with tip facing up.

Gently insert the suppository as far as possible into the back package, allowing it to dissolve internally.

If you are using ointment:

Gently wash the area around the back passage with water and pat dry with cotton wool.

Apply and spread a pea-sized amount of the ointment onto the affected area without rubbing.

If using ointment with the application, attach it to the ointment tube, insert it into the back passage and slowly squeeze out the ointment while withdrawing the applicator. Remain still for 1-2 minutes.

Do not use Proctosedyl Ointment (Cinchocaine with Hydrocortisone) if any of the below apply to you:

you are allergic to hydrocortisone, cinchocaine or any other ingredients

you have tuberculosis

you have any kind of skin infection

you are under 12 years of age (unless directed by the doctor)

If any of the above apply to you, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If you forgot to use Proctosedyl Ointment (Cinchocaine with Hydrocortisone), use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue as usual. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.

thinning of the skin

Proctosedyl Ointment (Cinchocaine with Hydrocortisone) should be stored in the original packaging, and in a location that is not above 25°C.

It’s important that you do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the foil and on the carton after “EXP”. This date refers to the last day of the month.
