Mebeverine Tablets

Mebeverine Tablets work by easing the tension in the muscles of the gastro-intestinal tract (gut). It is used in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, and similar problems such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis. 

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition which causes spasm and pain in the gut or intestine. The intestine, a long muscular tube which food passes through to be digested, can cause discomfort when it spasms and contracts. 

Mebeverine Tablets relieving these symptoms by mitigating spasm, pain, and other symptoms associated with IBS.

You should always take Mebeverine Tablets exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. If you are unsure, check with your doctor or pharmacist. 

The recommended dose is one tablet three times a day. However, the number of tablets you take may be lowered if your symptoms improve. You should not take more than three tablets per day. 

Try to take Mebeverine Tablets about 20 minutes before a meal – some people find their symptoms to be strongest after they have eaten. Swallow the tablet whole with water, do not chew it. 

Similar to other medicines, Mebeverine Tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Any side effects are likely to be mild and will usually pass. This is usually in the form of a mild itchy skin rash. 

In rare cases, Mebeverine Tablets can cause a serious allergic reaction (anaphylaxis). If you suffer from the following symptoms, stop taking Mebeverine immediately and go to your doctor, or you nearest hospital: 

• lips, mouth, tongue, or throat suddenly become swollen 
• breathing very fast or struggling to breathe 
• skin, tongue or lips turn blue, grey or pale 
• suddenly become very confused, drowsy or dizzy

Yes! Although there is not a single diet or medicine that works for everyone with IBS, there are lots of things that can help if you have been diagnosed with it.  

A few ways you can relieve your irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms is by: 

• cook homemade meals using fresh ingredients 
• keep a diary of what you eat and any symptoms you get (avoiding things that trigger your IBS) 
• find ways to relax 
• get plenty of exercise 

To relieve more specific symptoms, such as bloating, cramps and farting, you can: 

• eat oats regularly 
• eat up to 1 tablespoon of linseeds a day 
• avoid foods that are hard to digest, like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, beans, onions and dried fruit 

To reduce diarrhoea, you should: 

• cut down on high-fibre foods like wholegrain foods, nuts and seeds 

Finally, to relieve constipation, you can: 

• drink plenty of water to help make your poo softer 
• increase how much soluble fibre you eat, including oats, pulses, carrots, peeled potatoes and linseeds 

You can drink alcohol while taking Mebeverine Tablets.
