Mebeverine Tablets contain the active ingredient mebeverine hydrochloride which belongs to a group of medicines called antispasmodics. They help control and relieve some of the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), such as spasm, bloating and tummy (abdominal) pain. They also help reduce the movement of the gut.

You should always consult your doctor or prescriber before trying a new medicine, such as Mebeverine Tablets. If you choose to buy Mebeverine Tablets through e-Surgery, we will require you to take a short 2-minute health questionnaire to verify you are receiving the correct medication.

How do Mebeverine Tablets work?

Mebeverine Tablets work by easing the tension in the muscles of the gastro-intestinal tract (gut). It is used in conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, and similar problems such as chronic irritable colon, spastic constipation, mucous colitis and spastic colitis.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a very common condition which causes spasm and pain in the gut or intestine. The intestine, a long muscular tube which food passes through to be digested, can cause discomfort when it spasms and contracts.

Mebeverine Tablets relieving these symptoms by mitigating spasm, pain, and other symptoms associated with IBS.

What is irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)?

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a common condition that affects the digestive system. The main symptoms are:

  • stomach pain or cramps
  • bloating
  • diarrhoea
  • constipation

Although these symptoms tend to come and go over time, they can last for days, weeks or months at a time. IBS is usually a lifelong problem that can have a big impact on everyday life.

IBS has no cure, but diet changes and medicines can often help control the symptoms. The exact cause is unknown, but it has been linked to things like food passing through your gut too quickly or too slowly, oversensitive nerves in your gut, stress, and a family history of IBS.
