Luforbec Inhaler

Luforbec is a combination preventer inhaler containing two active ingredients: beclometasone dipropionate, an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways, and formoterol, a long-acting bronchodilator that relaxes airway muscles to make breathing easier. It is available as a pressurised inhalation solution in different strengths and is prescribed for adults with asthma or, in appropriate cases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Luforbec contains formoterol, which can start relaxing the muscles around your airways within approximately 1–3 minutes of inhalation. However, the anti-inflammatory ingredient, beclometasone, works over time to help control airway inflammation and reduce asthma symptoms.

You may notice improvements in breathing relatively quickly, but consistent daily use as prescribed is important for long-term control. If your breathing worsens or your treatment is not controlling your symptoms, seek medical advice.

The frequency you should use Luforbec depends on your prescribed strength, condition and treatment plan.

For asthma, adults using Luforbec 100/6 as maintenance treatment typically take one or two puffs twice daily, while maintenance-and-reliever treatment follows different instructions. For COPD, the usual adult dose is two puffs twice daily. The 200/6 strength is intended for maintenance treatment, not as a reliever inhaler.

The common Luforbec side effects can include a sore throat, hoarse voice, oral thrush, headache, trembling and a fast or noticeable heartbeat. Rinsing your mouth with water and spitting it out after each dose can help reduce the risk of oral thrush.

Less commonly, inhalers containing these ingredients can cause a sudden worsening of breathing immediately after use. If this happens, stop using the inhaler and seek urgent medical assistance. Contact your healthcare professional if side effects persist or concern you.

Your healthcare professional will weigh the benefits of controlling your asthma or COPD against any potential risks to you and your baby. Poorly controlled asthma during pregnancy can also pose risks, so do not stop your prescribed inhaler without medical advice.
