Have a question? We're here to help
Hyalofemme is a hormone-free vaginal moisturiser used to relieve the symptoms of vaginal dryness, such as itching, irritation and discomfort during sex. It contains an optimised form of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body that can hold many times its own weight in water. Vaginal dryness is common around the menopause, but it can happen at other times too.
It’s applied with the reusable applicator provided. If your symptoms don’t improve, or you think you may have a vaginal infection, speak to your prescriber or pharmacist.
Hyalofemme is a hormone-free, paraben-free and perfume-free vaginal moisturiser, and reports of side effects are not common. A small number of women have reported discharge, which usually settles as moisture returns. If the discharge has an unpleasant smell or colour, it may be a sign of an infection, so speak to your prescriber or pharmacist. Speak to them too if you notice irritation or anything else that worries you.
Hyalofemme can be used with latex and polyisoprene condoms, but not with polyurethane condoms. It isn’t a contraceptive.
No, Hyalofemme doesn’t contain oestrogen or any other hormones. Its active ingredient is an optimised form of hyaluronic acid, a substance found naturally in the body.
It’s also free from parabens and perfumes. If you have any questions about whether it’s suitable for you, speak to your prescriber or pharmacist.
The usual recommendation is to use Hyalofemme once every three days, which means one 30 g tube lasts about a month. You can use it more often if you need to, for example in the first few weeks or if your dryness is severe. It works best when used regularly, not just before sex.
Always follow the directions on your pack. If you’re not sure how often to use it, or your symptoms don’t improve, speak to your prescriber or pharmacist.
There’s no set time for Hyalofemme to start working. It’s designed to be used regularly, once every three days, rather than just before sex. In a clinical trial of postmenopausal women with vaginal dryness, symptoms improved significantly after 10 applications, which was 30 days of using it once every three days.
If your symptoms don’t improve, or you think you may have a vaginal infection, speak to your prescriber or pharmacist.
