Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? We're here to help

How many sprays of Difflam per use?

Adults should use 4 to 8 puffs of Difflam spray on the sore area. Aim the spray at the sore part of your mouth or throat, and press the plunger once for each puff. Don’t use it in or near your eyes, and if any gets in your eyes, wash them straight away with cold water.

How often can you use Difflam spray?

You can use Difflam spray every 1½ to 3 hours, as needed. Each time, spray 4 to 8 puffs onto the sore area.

If your symptoms get worse or don’t improve, contact your prescriber.

How many times a day can you use Difflam spray?

Difflam spray isn’t limited to a set number of times a day. The usual dose is 4 to 8 puffs every 1½ to 3 hours, as needed, so don’t use it more often than that. If you miss a dose, don’t double up. Just use the next dose as planned.

If your symptoms get worse or don’t improve, contact your prescriber.

How long does Difflam spray take to work?

There’s no set time for Difflam spray to start working. It acts directly on the sore area in your mouth or throat, so you can use it whenever you need relief, every 1½ to 3 hours.

If your symptoms get worse or don’t improve, contact your prescriber.

Can you use Difflam spray when pregnant?

Difflam spray shouldn’t be used during pregnancy unless it’s clearly necessary and your prescriber has advised you to. If you do need treatment, the lowest dose for the shortest time possible should be used.

If you’re pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your prescriber or pharmacist for advice before using it.

Can you use Difflam spray when breastfeeding?

If you’re breastfeeding, ask your prescriber or pharmacist for advice before using Difflam spray. It’s only used during breastfeeding when it’s considered essential, so they can talk you through whether it’s right for you.
