What does Difflam sore throat rinse do?

Difflam Sore Throat Rinse relieves pain and swelling in the throat. Its active ingredient is benzydamine, a type of anti-inflammatory painkiller that works by stopping pain and swelling (inflammation). It’s used to treat many painful conditions of the throat, including sore throat.

Is Difflam good for throat infection?

Difflam relieves the pain and swelling of a sore throat, including when it’s caused by an infection, but it doesn’t treat the infection itself.

If your symptoms get worse or don’t improve, contact your prescriber or dentist.

Can you swallow Difflam rinse?

No, Difflam rinse isn’t meant to be swallowed. Gargle with it, or rinse it around your mouth, for 20 to 30 seconds, then spit it out. If it stings, you can dilute it with water.

If you accidentally swallow a large amount, contact your prescriber or pharmacist for advice straight away.

How long does Difflam oral rinse take to work?

There’s no set time for Difflam to start working. The usual dose for adults is 15ml, measured with the cup provided, every 1½ to 3 hours as needed. Don’t use it continuously for more than 7 days unless your prescriber has advised you to.
