Yes, you can take citalopram at night if it suits you better or if the medication makes you feel tired. Many people choose to take citalopram in the evening to reduce daytime drowsiness. However, if taking citalopram at night affects your sleep or causes insomnia, you may prefer taking it in the morning instead.
Increased sweating is a recognised side effect of citalopram and other SSRI antidepressants. Some people may notice excessive sweating during the day or night sweats while taking citalopram. This side effect can range from mild to more noticeable but often improves over time.
If you forget to take a dose, take the next dose at the usual time. Do not take a double dose.
Do not take Citalopram if you are pregnant unless you and your doctor have discussed the risks and benefits involved.
If you take this medication near the end of your pregnancy there may be an increased risk of heavy vaginal bleeding shortly after birth, especially if you have a history of bleeding disorders. Your doctor or midwife should be aware that you are taking Citalopram so they can advise you.
You should not breast-feed your baby when taking Citalopram because small amounts of the medicine can pass into the breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, ask your doctor for advice.
Citalopram can cause drowsiness or fatigue in some people, particularly during the first few weeks of treatment as your body adjusts to the medication. This is one of the more commonly reported side effects, though not everyone experiences it.

This medication does not require any special storage conditions, but it should be kept out of the sight and reach of children.
It should not be used after the expiry date which is stated on the carton after “EXP” – this refers to the last day of that month. If you notice any visible signs of deterioration, do not use Citalopram.
