Verapamil Hydrochloride tablets should not be taken by anyone with the following health problems:
Low blood pressure: If you have low blood pressure, avoid taking verapamil (systolic pressure less than 90 mm Hg). Verapamil may cause dizziness by lowering your blood pressure.
Heart disease: This involves cardiac failure and severe left ventricular dysfunction. If you have major damage to the left side of your heart or have moderate to severe heart failure and are taking a beta-blocker, avoid taking verapamil.
Liver disease: Liver and kidney disease can influence how well this medicine is processed and cleared by your body. If you have impaired kidney or liver function, the medicine may build up in your system, increasing the risk of side effects.
Irregular heartbeats: Sick sinus syndrome, ventricular arrhythmias, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, 2nd or 3rd degree atrioventricular (AV) block, or Lown-Ganong-Levine syndrome are examples of these conditions. Verapamil may cause ventricular fibrillation or atrioventricular block if you have any of these diseases.
We advise that our patients consult with either their prescriber or doctor before you buy or use Verapamil.
