The Mini Pill consultation allows you to provide details about your medical history and circumstances, which will help us evaluate your suitability for the progesterone-only contraceptive pill (also known as the mini pill).
Completing the consultation is a necessary step to ensure we can safely prescribe the mini pill for you. The information you provide will enable our prescribers to assess potential risks and determine if this contraceptive method is appropriate based on your individual circumstances.
The Mini Pill consultation is designed to be quick and convenient. It typically takes less than 2 minutes to answer the required questions about your medical history and other relevant details.
During the consultation, you will be asked about your medical history, including any existing conditions or medications you are currently taking. You may also need to provide details about any previous contraceptive medications you’ve been prescribed, periods, and if you’ve been at risk of pregnancy recently.
After completing the consultation, you will be able to proceed with ordering the medication. One of our qualified prescribers will review your responses to determine if the mini pill is suitable for you. If additional information is required, we will contact you.
Yes, you will have the option to select your preferred mini pill product after the consultation, subject to the clinician’s approval based on your individual circumstances. Options include:
Be aware that the decision to prescribe a particular medication always rests with the prescriber.
While it is possible for someone else to complete the consultation on your behalf, we recommend that you provide the information yourself to ensure accuracy. The consultation requires personal medical details, and any inaccuracies could potentially lead to an unsuitable recommendation.
You should complete a new Mini Pill consultation if your medical circumstances or personal details change significantly. This ensures that our clinicians have the most up-to-date information to assess your suitability for the mini pill. This ensures that you receive appropriate treatment from us, and that we adhere to the guidelines set by the GPhC.
The Mini Pill consultation will be conducted through an online questionnaire. You will be asked a few questions, typically multiple choice, about your situation and medical details. Your responses will then be reviewed by one of our prescribers who will determine if the mini pill is right for your specific circumstances.
In most cases, consultation is the only requirement for obtaining a mini pill prescription from us. However, our clinicians may request additional information, in which case we will be in touch.
If you have any further questions or concerns, our qualified clinicians are available through our Ask-a-pharmacist service to provide professional medical advice and guidance.
