Prescription Only Medication (POM)
Norgeston Tablets are an oral contraceptive pill (the ‘mini Pill’) that you take to stop you from getting pregnant. Norgeston tablets contain a type of female sex hormone, called a progestogen. Norgeston tablets are taken every day without a break. You take a pill every day for 35 days.
Norgeston works by thickening the mucus inside the cervix which makes it much tougher for the incoming sperm to enter the womb. It also works by changing the lining within the womb which makes it harder for the egg to grow within it. Norgeston has been known to sometimes stop ovulation completely.
The medication should be taken orally, usually with a glass of water. You should take the Norgeston tablet at the same time every day, making sure it’s within the 3-hour window of the time you took it the previous day.
Instructions for use can also be found on the patient information leaflet.
Norgeston should not be taken if you have any of these conditions as it could put your health at risk:
