Utrogestan Capsules contain a female hormone called progesterone. It is often used with oestrogen for hormone replacement therapy (HRT). They are used to reduce the symptoms of the menopause (change of life).
It is only used in women who still have a womb (uterus) and is not a contraceptive.

As you get near to menopause, the amount of female hormones oestrogen and progesterone in your body goes down. Utrogestan Capsules HRT medicines work by replacing these hormones and helps reduce the symptoms of the menopause.

Utrogestan Capsules should be taken orally, swallowed whole with a glass of water, and taken at bedtime. You should always take Utrogestan Capsules exactly as your doctor has told you. Always read the label and check with the doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Your doctor will aim to prescribe the lowest dose to treat your symptoms for as short as necessary. If you think your dosage is too strong or not strong enough, speak to your doctor.
The recommended dose is 200mg daily at bedtime for twelve days in the last half of each therapeutic cycle (start of day 15 of the cycle and ending on day 26). Alternatively, 100mg can be given at bedtime from day 1 to day 25 of each therapeutic cycle. However, everybody is different, and a different dosage may be prescribed to you depending on your condition.
